What to do if my card is lost or it’s been compromised?

If your card is lost or you suspect that it might have been compromised, you can block and unblock your card at any time in the Woohoo Pay App.

Lock the card temporarily or disable it permanently (depending on the case) and reorder a new one within the Woohoo Pay App or the web app.

If your card has been compromised, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the ‘Cards’ tab
  2. Tap ‘Card Settings
  3. Swipe right until you see the card you want to temporarily disable or block.
  4. Finally, if you wish to block your card entirely, select ‘Order a new Card

This way, you have full control of your card and you can protect yourself against unauthorized transactions.

You should immediately block your card if anything looks suspicious. You can always unblock it later.

How to block the magnetic stripe on my card?

There are multiple ways to make a card payment: contactless (“tapping” your card), chip & PIN and Magnetic Stripe, where you swipe your card through a reader. While magnetic stripe transactions are less and less common, some merchants still require you to pay with this method.

Why should I block magnetic stripe transactions?

Magnetic stripe payments make up a relatively high proportion of fraud related card transactions. Some merchants have fraudulent systems to copy the information of your card and subsequently use it to make fraudulent transactions – this process is known as “card skimming”. By blocking magnetic stripe transactions you can protect yourself against this risk.

How can I block/unblock Magnetic Stripe transactions?

In order to block magnetic stripe transactions:

  1. Go to Cards
  2. If you have multiple cards, swipe to the right until you see the card you want.
  3. Tap Card settings.
  4. Tap magnetic stripe.
  5. Toggle Enable magnetic stripe.

Here, you can also unblock the magnetic stripe again. The changes you make are applied instantly to the card you’ve chosen.

How to block contactless payments on my card?

ℹ️  Currently only available for iOS users on the mobile app.

Contactless payments are really practical. But you might prefer to deactivate this payment method to prevent unauthorised transactions on your card. This is why you can now deactivate contactless payments on your card specifically:

  1. Go to Cards
  2. If you have multiple cards, swipe to the right until you see the card you want.
  3. Tap Card settings.
  4. Toggle Contactless payments.

The changes you make are applied instantly to the card you’ve chosen. Keep in mind that these settings refer to your physical card. You can read our dedicated articles to manage your Google Pay and Apple Pay settings. If you’re experiencing difficulties with contactless card payments, please read the following article to learn how to make them work.

How to use my card digitally?

You can make purchases with your smartphone:

Simply add your Woohoo Pay card to your Apple Pay or Google Pay wallet in order to make purchases at merchants who support this payment method.

You can enable this feature before your card arrives in the mail to start using your Woohoo Pay account straight away but also once you have received your card and activated it.

To add your card to your wallet follow these steps:

  1. Login to your Woohoo Pay account
  2. Go to ‘Cards
  3. Select ‘Card Settings‘ and swipe to select the card you want to add
  4. Select ‘Add to Apple Pay‘ or ‘Add to Google Pay

Good to know:

  • This feature is not enabled if you reorder your card or upgrade to a premium membership without blocking your current card. In these cases your current card will continue working with ‘Apple Pay‘ or ‘Google Pay‘ until you activate your new card.

How to view my complete card details in the Woohoo Pay app?

If you need your card details but aren’t carrying your card with you at the moment then don’t worry. Woohoo Pay allows you to view your complete card details in the mobile app if you have an active card and paired device.

To view your card follow these steps:

  1. Login to the Woohoo Pay mobile app
  2. Go to ‘Cards
  3. From your card list swipe until you see the card you want to use
  4. Tap ‘Card Details
  5. Confirm with your fingerprint, face ID or phone lock PIN

You will be able to view your complete card details for 1 minute. Please note, you won’t be able to take screenshots whilst your card details are being displayed.

How to activate my card?

Once you receive your Woohoo Pay Mastercard in the mail, you’ll have to activate it before you can use it to make payments. Activating the card takes only two simple steps—just make sure you’ve paired your smartphone to your account beforehand.

To activate your card on the Woohoo Pay app, from the Home screen:

  1. Go to the Cards tab
  2. Select Cards settings and swipe until you see the card you want to activate
  3. Tap Activate
  4. Make an ATM withdrawal at your local ATM network

To activate your card on the WebApp, just select Activate card from the Home screen.

You’ll need to follow these activation steps any time you order a new card, such as if your card is lost, stolen, damaged, or you upgrade to Woohoo Pay Smart, Woohoo Pay You, or Woohoo Pay Metal

If you have several cards of the exact same kind—for example, if delivery was delayed and you received more than one card—you can only activate the most recent one. All the older cards will be disabled when you order a new one. This does not apply to the additional cards that are available with premium accounts.

If you live in Spain, France, Ireland, Greece, Finland or Estonia, you’ll need to go to an ATM to activate your card. You won’t be able to start making payments using card readers until you complete an ATM transaction first.

How to change my debit card PIN?

If you don’t know your PIN code, remember that at Woohoo Pay we don’t send your Woohoo Pay PIN code by mail. Instead, you set your debit card PIN yourself when you activate the card. If you forget your PIN code or just want to change it, you can do so easily from the Woohoo Pay app in a matter of seconds.

First, make sure that your smartphone is paired with your account and that you have activated your card. Then open the Woohoo Pay app and follow these steps:

  1. Choose the Cards tab
  2. Go to Card Settings and select the relevant card
  3. Select Change PIN
  4. Enter your card token number, the 10-digit number that appears below your name on the front of your card (for Woohoo Pay Smart, Woohoo Pay You and Woohoo Pay Metal cards, this appears on the back)
  5. Choose a new PIN code and confirm
  6. Finally, you’ll need to make a first purchase using the chip and typing the new PIN at a payment terminal for the change to take effect, just like when you first activated your card. If you live in France, Spain, Ireland, Greece, Finland, or Estonia, you’ll need to make an ATM withdrawal or balance inquiry before you can use your card anywhere else.

  • For security reasons we don’t accept any PIN containing elements of your birth date, address, or any combination of repeated digits or numerical sequences—such as 1111, 1234, or 4321. If the number you chose isn’t accepted, simply try again a different combination.
  • If you enter the wrong PIN code three times in a row, the card will be automatically blocked for security reasons. If this happens, please contact our Customer Support via in-app chat so we can unblock it for you.
  • Your debit card PIN is not the same as your confirmation PIN, although you can choose the same PIN code for both if you want.
  • If, after changing your PIN code, you have trouble paying with your card, please ensure that you’ve activated it using the chip or at an ATM (see step 6 above).

How to block my Woohoo Pay card?

You can block and unblock your cards at any time in the app. Go to the Cards tab and select Card settings. There you can decide if you want to temporarily limit or disable your ATM withdrawals, online payments or payments abroad, or block your card entirely.

This way, you have full control of your card and can protect yourself against unauthorized transactions. You should immediately block your card if anything looks suspicious. You can always unblock it later.
